The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said in a post on X that the Israeli Air Force deployed its advanced “Barak” air defense system to stop an unmanned air vehicle, which had entered the Israeli airspace.The blockage marks the first operating use of the system within the Air Force’s air defense structure.Indigenously developed, the “Barak” system is designed to protect against aerial threats, including unmanned air vehicles (UAVs), cruise missiles and other airstrikes. The IDF said, “The Air Force will continue to stop the goals that are threatened by the maintenance of air superiority in the sky and region of the state of Israel.”Earlier this week, the Israeli Navy revealed that it first used the “Barak Magon” system, the Navy version to compete.According to the IDF, eight drones launched by Iran were intercepted overnight using a SA’ar 6-Class Carvet system by naval forces.The Navy said that since the onset of enmity with Iran last Friday, about 25 drones targeting Israel have been intercepted at the sea.
