According to Anees al-Asabahi, spokesperson of the Houthi Health Ministry, Israel on Monday injured the major Hodidah port of Yemen and nearby facilities, injuring about 21 people.
News organization Al Jazira said that an attack was launched in vengeance for a missile fired by Iran-stenographer Houthi rebels.
This is the first projectile to bypass Israel’s missile defense systems as Hauthis began targeting the country at the end of 2023.
The footage broadcast by the media operated by Hurti saw a large -scale explosion and thick plum of smoke from Hodidah’s port.
The Israeli army confirmed that it had targeted the “terrorist infrastructure” in the port and around it, including a cement factory, claiming that it was used to construct tunnels and other military structures.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) also alleged that Hodeidah Port was a center for Iranian weapons that transferred to Hothis – a claim that could not be verified independently.
Strike followed a high-profile announcement from the Houthi leadership, which is to impose a “extensive air blockade” on Israel.
He also warned the International Airlines to suspend flights to Israeli airports, declared Ben Gurian Airport a primary target and cited solidarity with Palestinians amidst Israeli military operations in Gaza.
The Humanitarian Operations Coordination Center at Hauthis stated that it had informed global aviation bodies including the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which was with the intention of repeatedly strike at Israeli airports.
While the Houthi missiles and drone attacks have been regularly intercepted, the phenomenon marks the first missile to reach the Tel Aviv region without shooting, raising concerns on Israel’s air defense capabilities and regional growth.
The situation combines the growing stress in the Red Sea and beyond, as Hauthis describe as a vengeance for Israel’s functions in Gaza, targeting Israel’s interests and shipping routes.
