Javed Akhtar demanded strong action against Pakistan on the Pahalgam attack: “Fireworks will not work on the border, it is time for ‘R or Par”. Hindi film news

Famous lyricist and screenwriter Javed Akhtar has strongly urged the central government to take decisive action against Pakistan after a recent terrorist attack in Pahgam, Kashmir, claiming the lives of 26 citizens including three tourists from Mumbai.

“Some firecrackers will not work on the border”
Speaking at the magnificent Maharashtra Festival in Mumbai on Maharashtra Day in 2025, Akhtar condemned the attack and criticized the Pakistani military leadership for promoting divisive ideology. In a difficult speech, he said, “Some firecrackers will not work on the border. Now take a concrete step so that the chief of the crazy army (Pakistan), no intelligent person can make a speech as he does.”

Javed Akhtar paid tribute to the victims from Mumbai – Sanjay Lele, Atul Mone, and Hement Joshi – who were among those killed Pahgam attackExpressing grief and anger, he said, “Sanjay Lele, Atul Mone and Hemant Joshi were looking for a moment of peace and happiness from this state … They were shot dead mercilessly. We should not forget it.”
He emphasized that it was not a separate incident and Mumbai, also, remains an important goal for forces with the intention of loss.
“I have seen my city burning”
Recalling the earlier journey of Pakistan for a literary festival, Javed Akhtar shared how he was facing the notion of Pakistanis of India. He responded fast, saying, “I am a resident of Mumbai, and I have seen my city burning. Those who came to burn it did not come from Sweden or Egypt; they are still roaming freely in your city.”

Javed Akhtar said that India has always extended the hand of peace to Pakistan regardless of the government in power, but the response has been repeatedly hostile and violent. “Mumbai or what has this country done to you?” He asked.
Call for decisive measures- ‘Ya Paar’
Wrapping his address with an emotional appeal, Javed Akhtar demanded a strong response from the Government of India, saying, “I don’t know much about politics. But I know it is time for ‘R or Par’.”
