B’Desh Bank cancels the ‘modest’ dressing code after Backlash

Dhaka: Central Bank of Bangladesh on Thursday canceled a new dress code directive, three days later its human resource department raised controversy by asking employees – especially women – to wear clothes in “minor and professional” dress.The HR department of Bangladesh Bank also warned that disciplinary action could be taken by failing to follow the order. “This instruction has been completely canceled,” said Bangladesh Bank spokesperson Arf Hussain Khan. Khan said that the Governor of Bangladesh Ahsan H Mansoor, currently on a tour abroad, ordered the instruction to be immediately withdrawn as the issue came into his knowledge through media reports. Now under-Revocade Order, female employees were asked to wear sarees, salwar-chemis, or any other minor, professional-colored dress with simple headscarf or hijab.
