New Delhi: The US -based National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), which oversees major aviation and transport events, slammed the recent media coverage of the initial report on Air India Flight 171 Crash on Friday, stated the report “prematurely and speculative.,NTSB President Jennifer Homendi said in a statement, “The recent media reports on Air India 171 crash are prematurely and speculative. India’s aircraft accident bureau has released its preliminary report. It takes time to investigate this magnitude. We fully support Aaib’s public appeal, and continued for it.,The accident occurred immediately after the takeoff from Ahmedabad Airport. Air India flight was going to London with 241 people on a ship, crashed in a nearby medical hostel. The incident claimed the lives of 260 people. Whereas, only one passenger survived.The initial report of the AAIB’s 15-page was released a month after the incident, which has been discovered so far. It states that immediately after the takeoff, the aircraft suddenly faced confusion in the engine failure, the cockpit, and failed to try to recover the flight.Following the release, Aaib issued a public appeal on Thursday, warning against the spread of “selective and unacceptable reporting” by some international media. It insisted that the investigation is being done professionally, following all the rules and global standards.Aaib also said that the accident has given a lot of blow to the public, but it is not time that it is not a time to spread nervousness or fear based on disorganized information about the Indian aviation industry.The bureau clarified that the purpose of the report is to explain only what happened – not why it happened ” – and warned against jumping to the conclusion.AAIB said, “It is too early to reach any certain conclusion,” and that a final report will be released later. That report will include the root causes of accidents and recommendations to avoid similar accidents in future.
