Requi: A huge forest fire broke out and on Friday intensified in Bhagwan village area near NH-144A in Reasi district, which spread to hundreds of hectares of forest land. The fire, which was furious for several days, inspired immediate action from forest officials and emergency services as it threatened nearby villages and infrastructure, including the important National Highway route.Fire departments and fire fighting teams were deployed to control the blast from fire and emergency services.Efforts were underway to include and submerge flames, which have spread rapidly due to dry weather conditions and strong winds.Talking about the situation, DFO Rasi Sunil Singh said, “The fire broke out at 4 pm in the evening. Our team immediately reached the spot to extinguish it. The team was there and tried to extinguish it.”Local resident Mohammad Hamid also expressed concern about the fire coming close to the residential areas, saying, “I have been engaged since two o’clock. I have come in hybrid vehicles to blow the fire.”Officials confirmed that the fire was not yet fully absorbed, but he said that continuous efforts were being made to control it.
