Jharkhand Minister’s embarrassing Gaf: ‘Himachal CM Sukhu should resign for the Pahgam attack’; Later a bottled coverup | Bharat News

New Delhi: Sudivya Kumar, Jharkhand Tourism Minister and senior leader of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, embarrassed his party and coalition partner Congress as he demanded the resignation of Himachal Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu. On Tuesday, 26 innocent citizens – most of the tourists – were brutally killed by terrorists in Pahgam by Pakistan.
“Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu should resign on the incident of Pahalgam as he failed to save his people’s lives. This is an unfortunate incident and I think the Chief Minister of Himachal should resign,” Senior Jharkhand Minister Said on Thursday.
The irony is that when Sudiiv Kumar realized his gaff and tried to clarify his comment, he ended another guff because he took the name of PDP supremo Mehboba Mufti, perhaps unaware of the fact that Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister is Omar Abdullah and not Mehboba. In the bid to cover the embarrassment, the Jharkhand Minister claimed that he had commented “sarcastically”.
The Minister of Jharkhand said, “In the incident of Pahalgam, six terrorists infiltrated from a distance of 300 km. Whose failure is, if the Center’s Mehboba Mufti (PDP chief) is not accountable,” said the Jharkhand Minister.
The JMM leader also stopped a dispute as he targeted the Prime Minister, Defense Minister and Home Minister to fail to take responsibility for the security lapse and also questioned why national mourning was not announced.
The minister said that the responsibility should be fixed at the highest level. “If PM does not answer, who will do it?” He said and then cited the example of “moral accountability”. Sudivya Kumar resigned as Railway Minister of Lal Bahadur Shastri and Nitish Kumar, and Shivraj Patil as Home Minister after national tragedies. “Earlier, the leaders set high standards and accepted moral responsibility. Why is it missing now?” Jharkhand Minister said.
The opposition BJP strongly reacted to the statements of Jharkhand minister.
Babulal Marandi, Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly and former President of former Jharkhand BJP, called his remarks “shameful and derogatory”, especially at a time when “not only the nation, but the whole world is mourning the tragedy in Kashmir”.
Marandi said, “The sarcasm displayed by the minister is a reflection of deep roots and madness that seems to have gone ahead. His behavior is very shameful.”
