The Ministry of Consumer Rights said on Monday that Spain has ordered AirBNB to block more than 65,000 leave listings on its platform. The ministry said that many of the 65,935 AirBNB listings had ordered to withdraw it, it did not include their license number or it was specified whether the owner was a person or company.Other people listed the numbers that did not match the authorities. Spain is struggling with a housing strength crisis that has promoted government action against short -term rental companies. In recent months, thousands of Spains have taken to the streets protesting the rising housing and rental costs, which have been motivated by holiday fare on platforms such as AirBNB, which have been spread in cities such as Madrid and Barcelona and many other popular tourist destinations. Consumer Minister Pablo Bustinduy told reporters on Monday, “Already protecting those who do a business out of the right to accommodation.” Last year, Barcelona announced a plan to shut down all 10,000 apartments licensed in the city as short -term fare by 2028 to protect the housing supply for full -time residents. The ministry said that it had informed AirBNB of non -listing listings months ago, but the company had appealed to the court for the move. The Spain government said that the High Court of Madrid had supported the order sent to AirBNB on Monday. Bustinduy said that the listing of 5,800 fare was immediately removed from the site. Later orders will be issued until about 66,000 expulsion reached, he said. AirbnB could not be immediately reached for comment. The Spain government said the first round of affected fares was located across the country, including the capital, Madrid, as well as the areas of Andalusia and Catalonia, whose capital is Barcelona.
