New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is expected to announce the formation of a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the allegations against Judge Yashwant Verma of Allahabad, the news agency PTI on Thursday quoted official sources. The move calls for the Aadhaar for the possible removal of Justice Verma, after submitting a notice signed by 152 members of Parliament on 21 July. Notice, which is now considered a “property of the house”, has triggered a formal consultation to set up a three -member inquiry panel.According to the Judges (Inquiry) Act, such a committee should include either Chief Justice of India or Judge of Supreme Court, Chief Justice of a High Court and a prestigious jurist. Sources confirmed that consultation was already underway, Speaker Birla has expected the Chief Justice of India to write two members of the committee to recommend. However, the choice of jurist will completely relax with the speaker. The Rajya Sabha is also involved in this process, as a similar notice signed by 63 opposition MPs on the same day was presented in the upper house. As a result, the coordination between the two houses has become important for the next stages.Since submitting the notice, Home Minister Amit Shah, Rajya Sabha leader of the House, House JP Nadda, Speaker Birla, and Vice President Harivesh, including senior leaders, who are currently presiding over the upper Sadan after the resignation of Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar, are in intensive discussions on the future.Dhankhar, who implemented the Judge (Inquiry) Act in the Rajya Sabha on Monday, resigned in a surprising step, citing health concerns, later, to clarify the process. However, political observers believe that their resignation followed their dissatisfaction within the government on their decision to accept the opposition -backed notice despite already a bipartisan before the Lok Sabha. With Harivansh, now temporarily in -charge, the fate of Rajya Sabha notice is uncertain. “We have not been told nothing yet,” an opposition MP signed the notice.According to the Act, the three-member committee will investigate the Aadhaar to demand the removal of the judge and determine whether the charges are warned for further action.
