New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday began a three -day visit to Gujarat after the party’s bipol victory in Visavadar Assembly Constituency, amidst efforts by AAP to expand his organizational footprint in the western state. According to an AAP statement, Kejriwal will be in Ahmedabad from July 1 to July 3, participating in organizational meetings and to galvanize support for the party’s newly launched ‘Gujarat Jodo’ membership campaign, which starts in Ahmedabad from July 2 and will be expanded in the state -wide. Before leaving for Ahmedabad, Kejriwal, posted on X, is going to Gujarat today to meet workers after winning the postworks. The campaign renewed by the party to establish a deep ground level presence in Gujarat, where the BJP has maintained a major political hold for more than two decades. Kejriwal also appreciated his party’s performance in the recent by -elections held in Gujarat and Punjab, where it retained a seat. “There will be a major AAP storm in the 2027 Punjab assembly elections. In Gujarat, people have decided to reject both BJP and Congress,” he said. In Junagadh district of Gujarat, Vishwavadar seat was won by former AAP state president Gopal Italia, who defeated BJP candidate Kirit Patel by a margin of 17,554 votes. According to Election Commission data, Italia secured 75,942 votes, while Patel received 58,388. The AAP leadership described the Bipol results as a sign of Kejriwal’s “powerful return” in national politics after the party’s recent defeat in the Delhi assembly elections.
