New Delhi: Kubawala Mustafa, a desired drug manufacturer facing an interpol red notice, was deported from the United Arab Emirates to India on Friday, which is in an operation coordinated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) through Interpol and Mumbai Police, officials said.The news agency PTI reported that the four -member Mumbai police team transported Mustafa from the United Arab Emirates to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, where he was taken into custody by the Crime Branch.A CBI statement said, “The CBI International Police Cooperation Unit (IPCU), in collaboration with CBI-Abu Dhabi, successfully brought back the red notice topic Kubawala Mustafa in India.”“The subject was previously grounded in the UAE, which was a close follow-up by the CBI via Interpol with NCB-Eabu Dhabi,” said this.In April 2024, the Mumbai Police busted a synthetic drug manufacturing facility in Sangli, where 126.141 kg Mefedron, a party drug, also known as ‘Meo Meo’, was recovered and seized. It was alleged that Mustafa ran the factory from abroad.Subsequently, he was charged in Mumbai and a special court issued an open-dated arrest warrant against him.On November 25, 2024, CBI received a red notice published through Interpol at the request of Mumbai Police. NCB -u Dhabi informed on June 19, 2025 that their officials have requested the UAE to send a security mission to form a team to bring out the subject to India.According to the Mumbai police officer, Mustafa was a major material and chemical supplier for the manufacture of high quality Mefedron. He reportedly obtained raw materials from Ahmedabad. After creating synthetic stimulating, he distributed it to members of a drug syndicate in Gujarat.
