Former India opener Shikhar Dhawan has withdrawn from the much awaited India vs Pakistan struggle at the Legends 2025 World Championships on Sunday at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham. Dhawan shared a statement on social media, referring to his decision to get out of all matches against Pakistan, mentioning the Pahlgam terror attack in the beginning of April this year.“Joe Kadam on May 11, Liya, USP Aaj Ves Hi Khada Hoon. My country was all crushed, and there was a bad nahhi hata from the country [The decision I took on May 11, I stand by it even today. My country means everything to me, and nothing is above the nation]”Dhawan said in his statement.He had previously expressed his stance on May 11, confirming his participation in the tournament, but clarifying that he would not play any fixtures related to Pakistan.“Dear team, I am confident that this email finds you well. It is formally repeated and confirmed that Mr. Shikhar Dhawan will not participate in any match against the Pakistan team in the upcoming WCL League. This decision was first informed during our discussion on the first call and WhatsApp on 11 May 2025,” Dhawan’s official communication.“In view of the current geopolitical situation and the tension prevalent between India and Pakistan, Shri Dhawan and his team have taken over the position after proper consideration.
