Large -scale US health agencies: ‘This will be the cost of life’: Mass trimming opens the US health agencies again because thousands of people receive dismissal notices

Thousands of employees received dismissal notices on Tuesday as a result of a comprehensive reorganization of the US Health and Human Services Department (HHS).
Sorting expected to abolish 10,000 posts includes researchers, scientists, doctors and senior officials – many of whom have played an important role in medical research, drug approval and public health supervision.
In the National Institute of Health (NIH), where Dr. Je Bhattacharya played his role as director on the same day, several senior leaders were placed on administrative leave.
According to the news agency Associated Press, at least four directors of NIH institutions and centers were among the affected people, and almost the entire communication teams were abolished. Some senior employees were offered transfer to remote places such as Alaska, with just 48 hours to allegedly respond.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also faced widespread cuts. According to CNN, the entire divisions were abolished, including the office responsible for drafting the new rules for electronic cigarettes and other tobacco products.
Former FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert Calif shook the changes and quoted by CNN, saying, “FDA as we know it is finished, with most leaders, institutional knowledge and product with deep understanding of development and safety are no longer employed.”
Meanwhile, HHS Secretary Robert F Kennedy JR Defending the trimming, he said that he would streamline the agency and give priority to fight the chronic disease, which he called a “bureaucratic spread”. Announcing a change on social media, he announced, “The revolution begins today!” He also revealed a plan to strengthen several agencies under the newly formed administration for a healthy America.
However, cuts have criticized public health experts and MPs. Democratic senator Patty Murray warned that the reorganization could have serious consequences. He told AP, “They can change the name of the disease department.” The CDC, which has lost 2,400 employees, saw deep cuts in the divisions working on asthma, reproductive health, air pollution, gun violence and climate change.
Beyond federal agencies, the state and local health departments are also feeling impact.
HHS recently withdrawn more than $ 11 billion in Covid-19-related funding, causing additional job damage at the state level. Meanwhile, a coalition by the state’s Attorney General has sued the Trump administration, arguing that the cuts are illegal and will increase the opioid crisis and destabilize mental health services.
With the elimination of about a quarter of HHS employees, experts fear that the loss of experienced professionals will leave the country sensitive to public health hazards. “It will cost life,” Dr. warned Tom FreedenA former CDC Director.
