Former Indian cricketer and commentator Dinesh Karthik shared a light video on social media with BBC Sport journalist, Indian Test batsman Cheteshwar Pujara and his dopelgangger Alex Noble during the ongoing test series between England and India. Karthik, who is part of the broadcast team for the series, created a playful moment by presenting two looklix each and capturing their reactions. In the video shared on Karthik’s Instagram account, he is shown introducing both Pujara and Nobel, exposing his striking equality despite being from different parts of the world. “I am going to show you right now, a cricketer and another person who looks similar from a completely different part of the world. I show you all. Karthik said in the video that it is Cheteshwar Pujara, an Indian cricketer, and a person who is recently in broadcast, and has a look at it, it is Alex Noble. In the clip, Karthik asks both persons about their equality, resulting in laughter between them. Nobel, which serves as a sports journalist with BBC Sport, was identified by Karthik as Pujara’s ‘proper Dopelganger’. Pujara, who has represented India in 103 Tests and scored an average of 43.60 on an average, last appeared for the national team during the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia at the Oval for the national team in 2023.

Since then, Pujara has been absent from the national setup, recalling both the domestic series against New Zealand and 2024–25 border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. He has maintained the presence of his cricket by participating in domestic cricket. In the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy, Pujara represented Saurashtra and scored 402 runs in seven matches, on an average of 40.20. His performance included a dual century. Currently, he is contributing to the broadcast team covering the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy.
