Panskura: A class 7 student from Panskura died of suicide, leaving behind a note, “Mother, I didn’t steal.” The incident took place in East Midnapur, West Bengal.According to locals, Krishnandu Das (13), a student at Bakulda High School on Sunday afternoon, was accused of stealing three packets of chips from a sweet shop owned by Civic Volunteer Sabhankar Dikit at Gosainer Market.Local people claimed that when the shop owner was not around, Krishnandu took the packet. Subhankar followed him when he saw Krishnandu at some distance with chips.When faced, the boy paid Rs 20 for three packets priced at Rs 5. Civic Volunteer brought him back to the shop and gave him a change.Subhankar allegedly defeated Krishnandu and apologized in public. Later, the boy’s mother took him back to the shop and scolded him.On returning home, Krishnandu tried to kill himself. He was rushed to Tamlauk Medical College and Hospital, where he died on Thursday. The family alleges that the shopkeeper’s treatment motivated him to commit suicide. The civic volunteer has gone missing since. The family also believes that public advice by his mother impressed him deeply.After a post -mortem, the authorities released their body to the family. Police sources confirmed that while no official complaint was filed, a case of unnatural death was registered. Officials have said that they will start a thorough investigation that a formal complaint should be lodged.
