Manipur: Police seized 86 weapons, 974 ammunition; Anti-Danga guns, IEDS also recovered. Bharat News

New Delhi: Manipur Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFS) recovered 86 weapons and 974 ammunition in the hill state on Tuesday, which has seen deadly ethnic conflicts in the last few years. In joint operations, the forces reported Grenade, IED, AK series and INS rifle, pistol, anti riot guns and SBBL, reported the news agency Annie, citing the office of Maripur DGP, in areas of Imphal East, Imphal West, Thubal, Kakinging and Bishanupur district.In a similar operation, the Manipur police recovered more than 200 weapons during a large -scale search operation in the mountainous districts of the state, in a similar operation, on the night of 3 July and 4 July. Raids are part of the ongoing efforts to curb illegal weapons and restore peace in the region. The police recovered a large cash of weapons and ammunition in the search operation, as the law and order in the state remains stable.These operations are part of a broader cracks launched by Manipur Police, Assam Rifle, Army and Central Armed Police Forces.Last week, nine people were arrested by the Manipur police, including six members of the Metei organization Arambai Teengol and three militants from a banned organization. All arrests were made in Bishanupur district. Police statement said that six Arambai Tenggol members were involved in physically attacking with state police personnel during a bandh in Bishanupur district on 9 June.Since there was ethnic violence in the state in May 2023, Manipur has seen at least 260 deaths and is currently under the President’s rule. The conflict between Miitei and Kuki communities also made thousands of people homeless, forcing them to stay in relief camps.
