Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday addressed the newly introduced ‘Khelo Bharat Results 2025’ (National Sports Policy 2025) through his ‘Mann Ki Butt’ radio program, stating how school and college will integrate sports games in daily life and support sports startups. The policy approved by the first Union Cabinet in July aims to change India’s sports scenario and make the country a global sports power plant.During his address, Modi said, “Villages, poor and daughters are the priority of ‘Khelo India results 2025’.The Prime Minister said, “I have received messages from many young athletes and their parents. These, ‘Khelo Bharat Results 2025’ has been highly appreciated. The goal of this policy is clear – to make India a sports superpower,” said the Prime Minister.Modi emphasized the importance of self-sufficiency in sports equipment building, suggesting that the mission would be strong when plays play with self-made equipment.He said, “Sports create the spirit of the team. It is a way to create fitness, confidence and a strong India. So play a lot, bloom a lot,” he said.The new policy replaces the 2001 National Sports Policy and presents a strategic roadmap to establish India as a prominent contender at international sports events including the 2036 Olympic Games.The NSP 2025 was developed through comprehensive consultation with various stakeholders, including central ministries, niti aigs, state governments, national sports associations, athletes and domain experts.The policy focuses on excellence in global sports by strengthening programs from grassroots to elite levels, including early talent recognition and nutrition.It aims to establish a competitive league, develop sports infrastructure in both rural and urban areas, and create world -class systems for training, coaching and athlete support.This policy also emphasizes the adoption of sports science, medical and technology to increase athletic performance along with training sports personnel including coaches and assistant employees.NSP 2025 recognizes the economic capacity of the game and aims to promote sports tourism by attracting major international programs in India. This game also focuses on strengthening the ecosystem and encouraging private sector participation through various initiatives.

During his address, Modi also praised the performance of the Indian contingent in the World Police and Fire Games in the United States, where he won 588 medals.Team India won 280 gold medals in the 21st edition of the Games held in Birmingham, Alabama from 27 June to 6 July. India finished third in total, with 1,354 medals with USA and 743 medals with Brazil.Modi expressed enthusiasm about India hosting the 2029 edition of the tournament in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, stating that India would showcase their hospitality and sports culture to foreign athletes.The World Police and Fire Games are an Olympic-style competition for law enforcement, firefighters, and improvement, probation, border security, immigration, immigration and customs offices.
