Meet the star kid who made her debut with Priyanka Chopra, acted with Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone – then disappeared from the spotlight

In the Bollywood world, where stardom often walks into the family, it is surprising when a person with strong film roots decides to take a quiet path. One such story is of Vivaan Shah, who is the sons of famous actors Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah. Despite making debut with big names like Priyanka Chopra and working with Bollywood Raja, Shah Rukh Khan, Vivaan has gradually distanced himself from the headlines.
From a family of legends of Indian cinema and theater
Vivaan comes from one of the most respected families of Bollywood. His father, Naseeruddin Shah, and mother, Ratna Pathak Shah, are known for their work in both films and theater industries. Her brother Imad Shah is a musician and actor, and sister Heba Shah is also an actress. But when Vivaan worked in his blood, he did not grow after dreaming of a silver screen. In fact, his early life was away from the glitz and glamor of the industry.

Action was never planned
Unlike many star kids, Vivaan was dreaming of becoming an actor. He spent most of his schools far away from the film’s world. In a previous interview with the Indian Express, he said, “I stumbled into acting as a profession, it was never planned.” He said that he said that his career would be based in academics, saying that “there, it was not fashionable that you wanted to become an actor.”
A mind for academics
Vivaan is also a curious learner. He finished school at Doon School in 2009 and applied to St. Stephen’s College at Delhi University. It is a matter of regret that he missed out on joining the history honor course with just one mark. Not happy to settle for a regular degree, he left after his first year and returned to Mumbai to study at Jai Hind College.
Their acting break
According to Vivaan, acting was also not an idea as a career choice until director Vishal Bhardwaj invited him to audition for his film ‘7 Khoon Maaf’. “As his great fan, I agreed. The film was on the set to see the process of production, that I had an Epiphene – Cinema plays an important role in Indian society, and I was lucky to be a part of it.” He admitted that it was a very moment that set him on the way to become a professional actor.
Big start with Priyanka Chopra
Vivaan started her acting in 2011 in Vishal Bhardwaj’s film ‘7 Khoon Maaf’, starring Priyanka Chopra. The film was a bold and dark story, and Vivaan got his first real real experience of acting on the film set. The occasion set him on the path of more roles, and a few years later, he achieved a part in one of the biggest films of 2014.
Share screen with Shahrukh Khan
In Farah Khan’s colorful and star-staded film ‘Happy New Year’, Vivaan played an important role with Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Jackie Shroff. His performance was noted, and he spoke openly how special the experience was for him. He told DNA, “My father is Farah’s biggest fan in the film industry. It’s a blessing that I got an opportunity to work with him. I consider myself very lucky and lucky. I cherish this moment for the rest of my life for the rest of my life. I believe that my father will be very proud and happy with my performance in the film.”
Step away from spotlight
Despite the promising start, Vivaan did not follow fame or stardom. After ‘Happy New Year’, she played more roles, but in short films. She was seen as Tony in ‘Bombay Velvet’ (2015), ‘Lali’s wedding Meen Laddu Diwan’ (2017) as Ladoo, and later seen in ‘Kabad the Coin’ (2020), ‘Ai Kash Ke Hum’ (2020) (2020) and ‘Kot’ (2023). While these films did not make big waves at the box office, they showed Vivaan’s choice to follow their own creative path, one which he found true.
A family of creative
In a chat with Hindustan Times, Vivaan spoke warmly about a strong creative relationship in his family. Their bond is just beyond being a family – they are cheerleaders and partners of each other. He said, “My parents and brother are my strongest supporters. We are first and better art partners.” Vivaan would not have made big waves on the screen these days as he was last seen with the film ‘In Gallion Meen’ along with Javed Jferi and Avantika Dasani.
