New Delhi: Three of the six AH -64E Apache attack helicopters in a part of Rs 5,691 crore pending with the United States, arrived at Hindon Air Force Station on Tuesday to increase the aggressive capabilities of the Indian Army.The “tank in the air” dubbed for its deadly shelling and matching, the helicopters will be deployed in Jodhpur, where the army raised its first Apache squadron 15 months ago. Army officials confirmed, “The first batch of Apache attack helicopters for the Indian Army has reached India. Helicopters will be deployed by the Indian Army in Jodhpur.”The remaining three Apache is expected to be distributed by the end of 2025. Induction is an important milestone in increasing the capabilities of air strikes of the army, especially for joint operation where the Indian Air Force already operates two Apache squadron – one in Pathankot and the other in Jorhat.AH-64e Apache Guardian, known for its accurate-stroke capacity and network-focused war readiness, designed to operate in hostile environment. Equipped with Advanced Night Vision, All-Veder Targeting System and better navigation tools, helicopters are considered important assets for both aggressive and defensive military operations.Delivery was delayed due to disintegration of the global supply chain and developing geo -political factors. Originally, coming between May and June 2024, Apaches were part of a $ 600 million deal signed during former US President Donald Trump’s visit to India.Earlier, in 2015, India signed a separate agreement to get 22 Apaches for IAF, with the delivery of 2020 to the mid -2020.
