New Delhi: The Union Health Secretary on Saturday chaired a review meeting after recently raised in Kovid cases, the news agency PTI reported sources.The meeting was attended by officials of Health Research Department, Director General of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and officials of Director General of National Disease Control.Sources said, “The Union Health Ministry is vigilant and through several of its agencies, is closely monitoring the situation.”He said, “It can be noted that through the Integrated Disease Monitoring Program (IDSP) and ICMR’s Pan-India Respiratory virus Sentinel Surveillance Network, there is a strong pan-India monitoring system for respiratory diseases including Kovid-19. Most of these cases are for light and home care.”It comes a day later when the Delhi government issued a covid advisor, asked hospitals to ensure the availability of beds, oxygen, medicines and vaccines from hospitals. Health institutions have also been directed to send all positive samples for genome sequencing to Lok Nayak Hospital.Although the World Health Organization announced the epidemic in May 2023, Kovid continues to broadcast globally. In India, most of the cases remain mild, with any death or the latest increase in ICU entry infection.Health experts have advised the public – especially with elderly, pregnant women, and underlying health conditions – to resume basic precautions such as wearing masks in attached places and often handwashing.Doctors also recommend influenza vaccination to reduce the risk and severity of co-transitions. The Health Authority of India is monitoring gradual growth in Covid-19 cases in many states, reports of resurrection of-transportation including Hong Kong and Singapore as regions of Asia.Although the number of nationwide cases is less than earlier waves, cities like Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad have reported noticeable growth. In Mumbai alone, according to the Maharashtra Health Department, 95 new Kovid -19 cases have been registered in May, matching a total of 106 cases of the state since January.
