More than 20 states have sued the Donald Trump administration on the decision of more than $ 6 billion in federal education grants, including funds for schools and summer programs that serve low -income families across the country.Funding freeze has killed especially Republican -led areas. According to an analysis by the left-handed think tank New America, 91 of the 100 school districts receiving the most funds from the affected grant programs are in the Republican Congress districts. Half of those districts are in California, West Virginia, Florida and Georgia.Risk programs are the 21st -century Community Learning Center initiative, providing free educational assistance, promotion and child care for 1.4 million children at places such as Boys and Girls Club, YMCA and Public Schools. The Trump administration says that the freeze is to ensure that the fund receiving programs align with the priorities of the President. The management and budget office has cited concerns about unspent immigrants and support for LGBTQ+ Inclusion.Meanwhile, programs across the country are struggling to stay open. In the Road Island, the state stepped with emergency funds to run summer camps. But the leaders of the Boys and Girls Club of America have warned that some of their 926 clubs may soon be closed in the next few weeks, without federal money. YMCA and Save the Children also report that many of their centers are in danger of closure.“Time is of essence,” said Christie Glison of Save the Children’s Action Network. Its group supports the Washington state and 41 rural schools in the south after school programming, where schools begin in early August.Even some Republican officials are a matter of concern. Richard Woods, Superintendent of Schools in Republican, Georgia, said, “I deeply believe in fiscal responsibility, which means to evaluate the use of money and seek capacity, but also to be responsible – to be responsible – the money approved by the Congress and issuing money signed by President Trump,”While some people hope that the administration will eventually release funds, others are worried that delay will leave families working without work and leave children without safe, rich environment without children. Glison quoted AP as saying, “It is not too late to make decisions so that children who really need it still need it.”
