Once as the last ‘finisher’ of Indian cricket, MS Dhoni is increasing in IPL 2025 after failing to make impact with the bat for the third consecutive match. Five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings started their season with a narrow win over Mumbai Indians, but since then have stumbled with three back-to-back necklaces-Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi left ninth on the nine-numeral table against the capitals of Delhi.
Although Dhoni is fast behind the stumps, his strike rate has seen an important dip – a notable 220.55 to 138.18 in the previous season. Their disability in constant discovery of boundaries has been a cause of concern, especially in high pressure pursuit.
Former Pakistan captain and wicketkeeper Rashid Latif did not keep back in his assessment, suggesting that Dhoni should have gone away from the game some time ago.
“He should have been left a long time ago, the age of a wicket-keeper is usually 35, I am an example of this. If I was on TV, I am an artist and when I do not do it at a higher level, my reputation will be reduced. Even if you have done for 15 years, the younger generation will not be affected,” Latif said.
He further questioned Chennai Super KingsDeciding to stay with Dhoni, saying: “His play should not benefit his team in 2019 (ODI World Cup), he should have understood. If you are choosing a team on a player then it is unfair to the game, that is why they are trolling.
Latif told IANS, “I watched 2-3 games and the crowd is very loud, but CSK still needs points, they are under the table and if only one or two players are the reason you should realize the need of an hour,” Latif told IANS.
Amidst speculation over Dhoni’s potential retirement, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming refused to weight Delhi after the team’s loss.
