Fatima Nafis, the mother of the missing Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Najeeb Ahmed, on Tuesday accused the Central Investigation Bureau (CBI) and Delhi Police “negligence” after the Delhi Court, allowed the CBI to close their son’s case, which has been missing since October 2016.In a Facebook post, her mother said that she would “fight till my last breath.”Nafis wrote in his post, “It has been nine years later when my Najeeb has gone missing.Saying that her fight is for every woman who is seeking justice for her children, the woman said that she will also contact the High Courts, if needed. “Many times I ask myself – how can I leave hope? How can I let my courage break? He is my son. I would like my son back. If I have to go to every court of this country for him, then I will. I will fight till my last breath, “he said.Nafis further alleged that no action was taken against the “goons” of the Rashtriya Swayamsevik Sangh (RSS) student wing, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). The RSS is the ideological parents of the Bharatiya Janata Party, who leads the government at the Center.“Neither the Delhi Police nor the CBI took any action against the students associated with ABVP, which the goons attacked my son and then disappeared,” he alleged. The first year student Ahmed, on October 15, 2016, went missing from the Mahi-Mandvi hostel of JNU, after being allegedly associated with ABVP last night with some students. The case was initially investigated by the Delhi Police and later transferred to the CBI.Nafis, who was at the forefront of protests with JNU students to demand a fair inquiry into his son’s case, praised those who stood with them.“His solidarity and this shared struggle gives me strength. During this time, when the system tried to silence us, it was a student of JNU and from all over the country – from colleges and universities such as Aligarh Muslim University and Jamia – who stood with me. Many of these children faced the police baton on the streets and raised their voice for us, “he said.Following the permission of the Delhi High Court, the CBI filed its closed report on Monday. However, it closed its investigation back in October 2018 as his efforts to find Ahmed did not give any results. In addition, although he accepted the closure report, Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Jyoti Maheshwari gave the agency freedom to reopen on the investigation of obtaining any reliable information about the orders, and intimateed it accordingly.
