New Delhi: Sources in the World Champions of Legends (WCL) said on Monday that the organizers interacted to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) that they were unable to host the match, making it clear that the Indian team had not taken any responsibility to cancel. Next to the much awaited clash, the WCL issued an official statement that confirmed that India-Pakistan stability in Edgbaston, Birmingham was discontinued. Several reports indicated that many former Indian players refused to participate in the match.On 22 April, Indian players refused to face Pakistan with a tragic terror attack on tourists in Pahgam. After this incident, diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan worsened.According to WCL sources, the Pakistan Champions team is not ready to share points with its rivals, India Champions, saying that the match was released due to the return of the Indian side.Talking about Vikas, WCL sources told ANI, “WCL has informed England and Wales Cricket Board that they were not able to operate this match, as organizers. India Champions team is not a mistake. Pakistan Champions team is not ready to share points because they are not saying that they are not out.”
Many Indian cricketers, including Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan, confirmed the media that they would not participate in the India-Pakistan game. Sources said that other members of the Bharat Squad had also taken a similar stand.Shikhar Dhawan shared an email sent to the tournament organizers in a post on X, saying that the decision to get out of the match against Pakistan was informed on 11 May. The email quoted the basis of the verdict citing the prevalent geopolitical conditions.In his post, Dhawan said, “Joe Kadam on May 11, Use Aaj Ves Hi Khada.In the previous edition of the WCL, India Champion defeated Pakistan in the final, winning five wickets. Chasing 157, India gave a major batting performance to achieve the title.
