Nia arrested two ISIS sleeper cell fugitive at Mumbai Airport in 2023 IED case

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested two ISIS sleeper cell fugitives at Mumbai Airport, confirming officials on Saturday. The suspects were sought in connection with the 2023 IED manufacturing and testing case in Pune, Maharashtra.Abdullah Fizes Sheikh, also known as Diaperwala, and Talha Khan was intercepted by immigration officials in Mumbai International Airport Terminal 2, while Jakarta attempted to return from its hideout in Indonesia. Nia later detained her.The suspects had captured for more than two years, including non-bailable warrants issued by the NIA Special Court, Mumbai. The agency had offered a reward of Rs 3 lakh for information for the possession of each suspect.The investigation center on the conspiracy involving these individuals and eight other ISIS Pune sleeper cell members, which is currently in judicial custody. This statement expanded India’s plot to destabilize the peace of India through violent means to establish Islamic rule.Two arrests, the first charge sheet with other accused, was allegedly gathered by Abdullah Fiz Sheikh, a Kondhawa, IED at Pune Niwas. During 2022–2023, he operated the bomb-making workshops and tested an IED in a controlled explosion in the campus.The NIA, who monitored ISIS activities in India, had earlier filed allegations against all 10 accused under various sections of the UAPA, Explosive Material Act, Arms Act and IPC.Additional arrested persons include Mohammad Imran Khan, Mohammad Yunus Saki, Abdul Qadir Pathan, Simab Naseeruddin Qazi, Zulfikar Ali Barodawala, Shamil Nakan, Akif Nakan and Shahnawaz Alam.
