New Delhi: The government is providing all possible assistance in Nimish Priya’s case, the Indian nurse is facing a death sentence in Yemen, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Thursday.Addressing the media query, Mea spokesman Randhir Jiswal said, “The Government of India is providing all possible assistance. We have provided legal aid and appointed a lawyer to help the family.” He said that Indian officials are in touch with both local Yemeni officials and Priya’s family to help resolve the matter.Jaiswal said that recent efforts have focused on demanding more time for Priya’s family to reach a mutually agreed solution with the other side involved in the case. “We will keep following the matter closely and provide all possible assistance. We are in touch with some favorable governments in this regard,” he said.Priya, a Nurse from Kerala, was sentenced to death in Yemen for the murder of a Yemeni National in Yemen. His family is currently working towards achieving his release through the blood money colony.
