Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday pledged to provide one crore youth in the state “in the coming years” government jobs and other employment opportunities.He was addressing a gathering after uprooting the tricolor at Gandhi Maidan on Independence Day here.Kumar said, “Bihar is moving forward with high growth rate and development. Earlier, we had promised to provide 10 lakh government jobs to our youth. But now we have set a new goal to provide employment and employment opportunities to one crore youth in the state.”“More than eight lakh youth were initially provided government jobs. In 2020, under ‘Saat Sankalp -2’, the target was extended to 12 lakh government jobs and 38 lakh employment opportunities. So far, 10 lakh youths have already been given government jobs, and 39 lakh people have been given employment. More than 50 lakh will be employed before the upcoming assembly elections. Over the next five years, one crore youth will be provided jobs and employment opportunities “, he said.The CM also announced several initiatives taken by the NDA government in the state.Kumar said, “The government has also decided to present a similar fee of Rs 100 for the initial tests of all competitive examinations in the state and will not be paid mainly.The decision considers importance in view of assembly elections in the state later this year.Highlighting the industrial development of the state, Kumar said that the government is taking steps to attract new industries.“We will offer capital subsidy, interest subsidy and GST encouragement for the establishment of industries. Land will be provided in all districts, and employment-intensive industries will be given cost free land. All disputes on industrial land will be resolved within four months, “he said.CM said that seven new medical colleges will be opened in Kishanganj, Katihar, Rohta, Shohar, Lakhisarai, Sheikhpura and Arwal.He said that special buses will run for Bihari migrants during Diwali, Chhath Puja and Holi from cities like Delhi, Gurugram and Chandigarh. The state government will also request additional festival trains from the Center.Referring to the 2023 caste-based survey, Kumar said, “Our survey identified 94 lakh poor families in castes and communities. We had planned financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh per family in five years. Now, the entire amount will be provided at one time. A high-level committee has been formed to consider this.” Kumar said that since the formation of his government in November 2005, restoring law and order has been a significant focus.He said, “At that time, the crime was on a large scale. Today, the strength of the Bihar Police has reached 1.31 lakhs. Recruitment is on. Compared to 2005, there has been a significant decline in murder, robbery, robbery and kidnapping incidents.”He said that special attention has been paid by the state government on education and healthcare sectors.Highlighting the initiatives by the state government for women empowerment, Kumar said, “Since 2006, women have been given 50 percent reservation in panchayats. Since 2007, such reservations were implemented in urban local bodies. In 2016, women were also given 35 percent reservation in all government jobs “.He said that the government approved 430 new schemes worth Rs 50,000 crore to address the development interval.He said that pension for the elderly, disabled and widows has increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1,100 per month.“When we formed the government in 2005-06, the state budget was Rs 28,000 crore. It increased to Rs 34,000 crore in 2006-07 and has now fallen behind Rs 3.16 lakh crore, ”he said.The CM said that the recent decision by the central government to conduct a nationwide caste-based census is a commendable step.He said, “The Union Budget 2025-26 included a Makhana Board, Greenfield Airport, Support for Western Kosi Canal, a National Level Food Processing Institute, and the expansion of IIT Patna. It was a matter of great pride to host Khelo India Youth Games of 2025, and the event was successfully organized in the state,” he said.Continuing a long -standing tradition, after the ceremony at Gandhi Maidan, CM visited a Mahadalait Tola, a symbolic gesture that he performs every Independence Day.Additionally, Tricolar was formally hoisted by Sukhu Chaudhary in Panapun, following another tradition.
