‘No surprise’: Cumo Camp says that Zoharan Mamdani claimed herself in college application ‘only Iceberg’s tip’

Zoharan Mamdani said that he did not investigate the ‘African-American’ box to take any advantage.

Former Governor Andrew Kuomo’s camp doubled on NYT Expos that New York candidate Zoharan Mamdani declared himself ‘black’ as a Colombia application despite having no African blood. Mamdani was not accepted by Columbia, but he marked both ‘Black or African American “and” Asian “on his 2009 application. He said he checked both boxes to capture the perfection of his background, because the Indian-Ugon was not an option. Kuoomo spokesman Rich Amizopardi said, “This should be no surprise as mamdani, their proposals, their funding and their background, not found any investigation from the press at all,” saying that it could just be the tip of the iceberg. Mamdani said that he does not consider himself black or African-American, but he is proud to be Uganda-American of Indian origin. Mamdani’s father, Mahmood Mammadani was born to Indian parents in India and went to Uganda, where he was picked up. Mamdani’s mother Meera Nair was also born to Indian parents in India. Zoharan Mammadani was born till the age of 7 in Uganda and all of them moved to New York. Mamdani told NYT that he did not choose black to get any benefit, but he felt that if he did not choose that option, he could not explain his racial makeup. An earlier video of Mamdani states that he would never identify as African-American like Elon Musk, as it would be misleading, viral. But Mamdani supporters said that they maintained their stand even while reacting to the NYT article. The revelation launched a big debate on whether Mammadani cheated by examining a box and indulged in cheating that he could not claim his race to be African. “Everyone also knows that the purpose of checking a race on the college application is to provide groups by reducing racial preference benefits. He is not black. He knows what is the box and who has considered it to check it. He was trying to get a racist idea. Some social media users reported that when they examined the African-American box, he was neither an African nor an American, as he became an American citizen in 2018.
