New Delhi: Team India has won the T20 World Cup in 2024 and ICC Champions Trophy-Back-to-Back ICC title in 2024-and will now draw their attention to the next major assignment in 2027: ICC ODI World Cup and ICC World Test Championship. In the last one year, both the title came under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy, but with the uncertainty of the 37 -year -old future, it remains to be seen whether he will lead the team in 2027.
With Rohit already retired from T20i, the biggest question in front of Indian cricket is who leads the leadership to baton?
Currently, Suryakumar Yadav is leading the T20I side, while Shubman Gill is serving as the vice-captain in the ODI match.

However, 1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev has made his choice clear, which supports every Hardik Pandya to lead India in white balls.

Kapil said in an event, “For me, Hardik Pandya is my white ball captain. There are many contenders for the post, but Pandya is my choice.”
He said, “Pandya is relatively young and can form a team around her for the next ICC events.”
Pandya is currently active in white-ball formats for India only, which last played a Test match six years ago.
Kapil said, “Ideally, Hardik should also play Test cricket and since he is not playing, India will need many captains for three forms.”
