Why did Mamdani’s kitchen-table economics work?
Mamdani’s victory over Andrew Kuomo can be held responsible for his unique political style and progressive economic ambitions. While the support of the Cuomo installation, the name bowed to the recognition, Mammadani focused a detailed, multinational alliance on Housing Justice, Public Transit and Economic Equity. He proposed to make the city buses rent-free, provide universal child care and implement fare freeze on rental apartments, emphasizing the policies inherent in economic justice and recognition-based equity.Preliminary results showed that Mr. Mamdani was building an unconventional democratic alliance in New York City, drawing strong support from white, Asian and Latin voters in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens. While he campaigned as a champion for Working-Class New Yorkers, he scored large margins in Park Slope, Cobble Hill and Clinton Hill, as well as the East Village of Manhattan and the neighborhood in Midtown. He also led to various South Asian residents for diverse, mainly Asian and Latin communities in Queens including Ghar, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Sunniside and Richmond Hill. However, Mammadani faced challenges in the middle class mainly in Bronx and Southeast Queens, where the Governor earned permanent support as Mr. Kuoomo’s previous term. Kuomo also performed well in the rich manhattan districts in the upper west and east and in the conservative Jewish regions of Brooklyn, where the important stance of Mamdani on Israel voted for him.But Kuoom’s return bid collapsed under the weight of unresolved sexual-uptime allegations and criticism of their epidemic record.

Although he faced a federal corruption prosecution last year on an alleged bribery scheme related to foreign money and political favor, the matter was dismissed in April after reviewing a controversial justice department.
