New Delhi: President Draupadi Murmu met a 20-year-old college student at AIIMS Bhubaneswar Burn Unit, where the girl underwent treatment after attempting self-explosion, alleging that a professor’s claims of sexual harassment by a professor were unheard. The president was in the hospital to attend the convocation of the institute.The student set himself on fire near the main gate of the college on Saturday during a peaceful protest starting on 1 July, demanding action against the head of the education department (HOD). Students and friends claimed that she had filed complaints alleging mental harassment, misconduct, and threatens to manipulate her educational performance by reducing her internal digits until she complies with her sexual demands. The student briefly moved away from the performance area, immersed himself into petrol, and ignited himself. The CCTV footage caught the student who sets himself up to the principal’s office and later running through the premises.
