On the order of the Madras High Court, Tamil Nadu Police arrested ADGP-Rank officer in the case of kidnapping India
Chennai: Amidst high play, an IPS officer of ADGP rank was arrested as per the order of a judge regarding the kidnapping of a boy at the Madras HC campus, according to Sureshkumar’s report.Justice P. Welmuguran on Monday ordered the arrest of HM Jairam, a 1996 batch IPS officer HM Jairam for suspicious participation in the abduction of a 16-year-old boy in an inter-caste marriage case. Jairam was sent to judicial custody.Poovai Jagan Mourthy, an MLA representing KV Kuppam constituency, who was also in court according to the order, was asked to appear before the investigating officer and cooperate in the investigation.Justice Velmurugan said, “The court cannot give ADGP a privilege provided to the representative of People’s (MLA), which is a public servant. All public servants should know the consequences of supporting the crime.” The court said, “Since the two arrested accused confessed for the participation of the ADGP, they should be arrested and questioned. He can reach the suitable platform to search for bail,” the court said.The court passed an interim order on an anticipatory bail application transferred by Jagan Murthy. Talking for a necessary hearing, the judge called the MLA and ADGP to appear in the court on Monday.The case is related to the kidnapping of Indrachand, a minor from Kalambakam, near Thiruvalangadu on 10 May. The boy’s elder brother, Dhanush (23) married Vijaya Sri (21) against the wishes of his family on 15 April. The couple met on social media and were alloped.After failing to find Vijaya Shri, with his father Vanaraja, his brother Manikandan and relative Ganesan, all the residents of the then district contacted the MLA for help. It was alleged that Jairam had lent his official vehicle for the operation. Along with Maheshwari, who resigned as a police inspector, and advocate Sarath, he went to Dhanush’s house and kidnapped Indrachand on the pretext of questioning him. The girl’s family, former-ignorant and advocate have been arrested.
