Recently, on the occasion of World Emergency Day, Society for Acute Care, Trauma and Emergency Medicine (SACTEM), Rapido, successfully conducted CPR and first aid training for more than 1000 rapido drivers in 16 cities. These training sessions were designed to empower especially Rapido drivers – individuals who are at frequent steps and are often the first witness to road traffic accidents (RTA). By equipping them with basic emergency response skills, the purpose of Sactem and Rapido is to increase community-tier accountability and save life during important golden hours-the first hour after trauma, where timely interference increases the chances of survival and reduces disability.According to recent data, India reports more than 4.6 lakh road traffic accidents annually, with more than 1.5 lakh fatal. A large percentage of these deaths is due to lack of first aid and delay in transport in hospitals. Studies suggest that treatment within golden hours can prevent 40% of deaths caused by RTA. Empowering the first respondents with basic emergency care knowledge, therefore, is an important step towards reducing this toll.Aravind Sanka, co-founder of Rapido, said, “Our captains are not only mobility partners-they are integral parts of clothes in our cities. This partnership with Sectom shows our belief that the dynamics fall beyond point B from point A-it is to take steps for us and take steps to take steps for us. We are proud to lead an initiative that empowers everyday heroes in our cities. ,National Coordinator Dr. for this initiative. Nayan Sriramula emphasized the important role of early intervention in both medical and surgical emergencies, highlighting that timely help can mean the difference between life and death.Dr. “This is an example of how corporate-social partnership can really create an impact,” said Subrinkar Paul, Sactam’s academic head and training course.Such training programs will be continued in the coming months to cover other cities and include more drivers.
