New Delhi: Pakistan’s Auditor General has marked major financial irregularities for millions of rupees within the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), including additional payments to match unauthorized appointments and officials. The audit report pointed to examples of corruption during 2023, when the board was led by Mohsin Naqvi and Zaca Ashraf.Major findings include the 63.39 million Pakistani rupees paid to the police to provide food during international match security duties. The report also highlighted the unauthorized recruitment of three under -16 coaches at the Karachi High Performance Center, resulting in payment of Rs 5.4 million.In addition, the matches of the match were paid more than Rs 3.9 million, which increased concerns around possible match-fixing. The report also questioned hiring a media director with a heavy monthly salary of Rs 900,000.Additionally, the audit notes that ticketing contracts were awarded without following proper competitive bidding procedures. These revelations have already given more stress to PCB’s already delicate administrative reputation.PCB President Mohsin Naqvi – who works concurrently as the internal minister of Pakistan – is now under a height investigation. However, his ministerial post provides him some legal protection.
