‘Pakistan does not get to play victim’

Indian-American Republican leader Nikki Haley on Thursday supported India’s retaliation after the Pahalgam terror attack, saying that “Pakistan has to play victim” and any nation should not be spared to support terrorism.Haley said in a post on X, “Terrorists started an attack, killing dozens of Indian citizens. India had every right to retaliate and defend itself. Pakistan does not get to play the role of a victim. No country gets to support terrorist activity,” Haley said in a post on X.His commentary came in view of India’s Operation Sindoor, which was an accurate military reaction to a terrorist attack in Pahgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, killing 26 civilians. India targeted nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan -occupied Kashmir using drones and missiles.Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that the Indian Army conducted the “measured, non-escalery, proportional and responsible” strike to end the terrorist infrastructure and prevent further attacks. Misri said that despite the clear evidence of terrorist activity, Islamabad “did not take any protesting steps” to work against the groups involved.Haley, who served as US ambassador to the United Nations during the Presidential post of Donald Trump, has constantly advocated cutting American aid in Pakistan. In his 2024 President’s campaign – before leaving in March 2024 – he vowed to stop countries like Pakistan from sending “hundreds of million”, calling it part of a weak foreign policy. In a previous up-ed at the New York Post, he defended Trump’s decision, defending the decision to make Pakistan $ 2 billion in military aid, cited the shelter of terrorists killing American soldiers.
