The screenshot of the account being banned by Abid’s fans and listeners on X (East Twitter) is widely shared. The message states: “Account is not available in India. The reason is that we have complied with legal request to ban this material.”
Abida Parveen is known for his intimate rendering of Sufi poetry. ‘Tu Jhoom’, ‘Main Naray Mastana’, ‘Pardari’, ‘Chap Tilak’ and ‘Aka’ are some of its most famous tracks.
The ban follows a series of similar tasks affecting artists like Hania Aamir, Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar and Fawad Khan. While no official explanation has been given to connect these restrictions directly to specific events, the restrictions appear to reflect India’s current stance on digital access to materials from Pakistan.
