New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the Kartavya Bhavan for the first time among the ten employed buildings under the Common Central Secretaria (CCS) project, which will join the central government offices.The objective of the project is to bring various ministries and departments together to improve efficiency.
Chief Ministry to go from Raisina Hills to Kartavya Bhavan
Kartavya Bhavan -03, the first building to open, will accommodate the ministries of the office of home affairs, foreign affairs, rural development, MSMEs, dopts, petroleum and natural gas and major scientific advisors.The transfer of the Ministry of Home Affairs and Personnel to the new address from the North Block in Raisina Hills is a great importance since being operated by the prestigious structure for nearly 90 years.In a statement, the PMO said that Kartavya Bhawan was a state -of -the -art office complex, an area of about 1.5 lakh square meters in two basements and seven storeys, including the ground floor.The building is designed to use 30 percent less energy. This includes glass windows that help keep the building cool and reduce noise from outside. It also has energy-efficient LED lights, sensors that turn off the lights when not needed, a system to manage the use of smart lifts and electricity saving electricity.Currently, many ministries are working from old buildings such as Shastri Bhawan, Krishi Bhawan, Udog Bhawan and Nirma Bhavan. These buildings were built between the 1950s and 1970s and are now considered “structurally old and disable” according to the government.

Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Tuesday that in these four buildings, the offices will go to temporary places on Kasturba Gandhi Marg, Minto Road and Netaji Palace, while construction is going on.
Ten CCS buildings were planned under the Central Vista Rewmps
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has planned to construct ten CCS buildings under the Central Vista redevelopment project. The project is expected to be completed by June 2027.The government said that some buildings are like they are. Among them, National Museum, National Archives, Jawaharlal Nehru Bhavan (Ministry of External Affairs) and Dr. Ambedkar Auditorium is included. These buildings are relatively new.According to the Ministry’s plan, Vanajya Bhavan is also expected to be maintained.Two CCS buildings, counting 2 and 3, are under construction and are expected to be completed by next month. Construction of CCS Building 10 is about to end by April next year.CCS buildings are expected to be ready by 6 and 7 October 2026.As part of the Central Vista redevelopment project, the government has already built a new Parliament House, Vice President Enclave, and redeveloped the Kartavya Path, which runs from Vijay Chowk to India Gate.Apart from the common central secretariat, the government will also build an executive enclave. It will include a new Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Cabinet Secretariat, India House and National Security Council Secretariat.A new residence for the Prime Minister will be built under the second phase of the executive enclave.
