‘Part of Terror Network’: Iran hung 2 men from the exiled opposition group; Citizen blames them for targeting infrastructure

Iran on Sunday blamed two members of the exile opposition group Mujahideen-e-Khal (MeK) for targeting civilian and government infrastructure. According to the official news outlet of the judiciary, Mizan Online, two men -Bihruz Ishani Essalamalau and Mehdi Hasani were hanged after being found guilty of launching the attacks using the improvised mortar launcher.Iranian courts accused men with several crimes, including waging war against the state, conspiracy, sabotage and membership in a terrorist organization. Prosecutors said they were plotting to destabilize national security and cause widespread damage to public infrastructure.The state media cited by the AFP said that both people were also involved in the acts of barbarity against public property, gathering intelligence information, filing their operations, and distributing footage through media outlets connected to the group.Essallu is said to have long ties with Mujahideen-e-Khalak, dating back in the 1980s. He was earlier imprisoned and the group was re -included after his release. The officials arrested him, while he was trying to cross the border in Türkiye. The group made a series of bomb blasts and murders in the 1980s and tied up with Saddam Hussain during the Iran-Iraq War- demonstrations that continue to incite deep resentment in Iran.Now mainly located in Albania, Mek claims to maintain an underground network inside Iran. Before Sunday, the last known execution of the Mek members took place in 2009, after his convict for Tehran’s attempt to bombing in Enelab Square.
