Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially made the Vijinjam International Cottage in Kerala officially at an estimated cost of Rs 8,867 crore in Kerala.
The event was attended by Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, President of Adani Group Gautam Adani and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor.
The port located in Thiruvananthapuram district is seen as a major development in increasing India’s position in global trade and shipping.
Developed under a public-private partnership, the deep-warder port is created by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ), which is part of the Adani group.
After a successful test run, Port received its commercial commissioning certificate on 4 December last year.
