Younus tells us

Dhaka: In a telephonic conversation with US State Secretary Marco Rubio, Bangladesh Interim Government chief Muhammad Yunus has demanded the support of Washington for his country’s “democratic transition” as he said that he said the national election will be held in “early parts of next year”.Yunus also told Rubio that the ongoing dialogue between his administration and political parties would lead to very necessary reforms of the country’s political system, the government in Dhaka said, Rubio expressed support for Bangladesh’s “reform agenda” and its move to hold elections early next year.The two leaders also touched geopolitical issues, including the need for a stable and peaceful Indo-Pacific sector. Poll left PM Sheikh Hasina in August last year after a mass movement against his government. “The Election Commission is working hard to reorganize the electoral system, which was destroyed by the previous government,” Younus told Rubio during a 15 -minute call on Monday evening. US State Department spokesman Tami Bruce said, “Secretary and Chief Advisor (Younus) confirmed its shared commitment to deepen the economic relations between the US and Bangladesh and to increase security and stability in the entire Indo-Pacific sector.”
