Kharge wrote on X with a letter to the PM, “From the first to sixteenth Lok Sabha, there has been a deputy speaker in every House. And the elder, it has been a well -established conference, which is a well -established conference to appoint a deputy speaker among the members of the principal opposition party.”He further wrote: “No deputy speaker was elected during the seventeenth Lok Sabha, and the example continues in the eighteenth Lok Sabha.”The Deputy Speaker of the Lok Sabha is a major constitutional status in the lower house of Parliament of India. The deputy speaker is chosen by the members of the Lok Sabha, usually among themselves, soon after the speaker is elected. The primary role of the deputy speaker is to preside over the proceedings of the Lok Sabha and ensure the smooth conduct of the House in the absence of the speaker. The deputy speaker has the same powers as the speaker, when presiding, including maintaining the order, deciding the points of the order and managing the debate. Importantly, the deputy speaker is expected to function in a non-Muslim-similar manner as the speaker, despite being selected from a political party. Traditionally, this post is often introduced to the opposition or a member of another side to maintain a balance, although it is not mandatory by the Constitution. The situation is important to maintain the parliamentary process and ensure continuity in the functioning of the Lok Sabha when the speaker is unavailable.M.A. from All India Anna Dravida Munnitra Kazgam (AIADMK), the last sub -speaker of the Lok Sabha in India.
