New Delhi: Marking 100 days of BJP rule in Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took a holy dip in the Ganges in Har Ki Puree on Sunday and vowed to repeat the purity of the river in Delhi by cleaning the Yamuna.“This is a feeling of immense happiness,” said CM Gupta. “After performing the Yamuna Aarti in Delhi yesterday, I took a dip in the Ganges today. With the blessings of saints and mother Ganga, I feel strong and more committed to intensify the development of Delhi. People have been suffering for years, now it is our responsibility to bring real progress.”Gupta along with his family also met Swami Awadhashanand Giri Maharaj at Harihar Ashram during his visit.He said, “I prayed to God that as millions of devotees come to worship the Ganges, Yamuna should also be clean enough to take the holy dip,” he said.A day earlier, the Chief Minister led a ‘Yamuna Aarti’ at Vasudev Ghat in Delhi for 100 days of BJP -led administration. During the incident, he confirmed his government’s commitment to restore Yamuna.Gupta announced, “The Delhi government and its citizens have decided to clean the Yamuna. Social workers will also be involved.”He also made an excavation in the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rule, stating, “The previous governments lied about the cleanliness of the Yamuna. They did not take a single step towards it.”Earlier in the day, he also participated in the BJP’s ‘100 Deen Seva Ke’ program, which shows the initiative taken since assuming the post.Yamuna Clean-up has been a controversial issue in Delhi politics for a long time, in which governments constantly promise action. Gupta’s symbolic dip in the Ganges pushed a fresh push to the BJP, so that they could separate their tenure through visible environmental efforts.
