Prerna Arora allegedly booked for Kashish Khan, co-producer of ‘Fani Khan’ for fraud of Rs 1.33 crore

On 30 April, filmmaker Adhrana Arora was allegedly registered by the Versova police to cheat Kashish Khan, also known as Nafisa Khan, which is his co-producer, Rs 1.33 crore on the film ‘Fani Khani’.
Initial meeting and investment proposal
According to the Lokmat Times, the FIR states that Kashish Khan, who was 37 years old and living in Andheri West, first met Preran Arora, a resident of Hiranandani, Pavai in 2018, which was through mutual acquaintances. During her introduction, Arora portrayed herself as a filmmaker, working with stars such as Aishwarya Rai, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham, who gained Khan’s confidence.
Arora reportedly informed Khan that despite having a fixed deposit of Rs 60 crore, she could not get the loan using it. Subsequently, he guaranteed attractive profits to Khan to invest in a film venture. At that time, Arora was engaged in the production of both ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ and ‘Fanni Khan’. In particular, he requested Khan to invest Rs 50 lakh in ‘Fanni Khan’, a return of Rs 10 lakh, 5 percent of the film’s total earnings and recognized as co-producers.
Investment and compromise details
In March 2018, Khan agreed to invest and issued an investigation of Rs 50 lakh from his Axis Bank account to Arora. However, the agreement was signed with Prena Arora, not directly but with her mother Protima Arora, who served as Director of Sudha Kriraj Entertainment Private Limited.
Difference after film release
On the release of ‘Fanni Khan’ in 2018, Aishwarya Rai, Anil Kapoor, and Rajkummar Rao found that she was not credited as co-producers, nor did she agree with 5 per cent profit. When Khan questioned Arora, Arora quoted his father’s illness as a reason and presented a fixed deposit certificate of Rs 60 crore, promising a return of money.
Additional payment and alleged fraud
From March 2018 to January 2019, Arora is accused of taking an additional Rs 83 lakh from Khan in several transactions. Since the total amount returned since the time has passed without Arora, he allegedly cheated Khan.
Arrest and forgery discovery
During this period, Prerna Arora was taken into custody by the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) in a separate fraud case. Subsequently, Khan came to know that the fixed deposit certificate presented by Arora was forged. After Arora’s release from jail, Khan requested the repayment of his fund, but Arora was humiliated, despite issuing several checks.
Legal action and allegations filed
As a result, Khan presented a complaint against Abhirna Arora and her mother, making the police registered a case against both women. The allegations include sections 406 (criminal violations of the trust), 420 (cheating and dishonesty), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), and 471 (471 of the Indian Penal Code (using a fake document).
