Kolkata: Monjan Mishra alias Mango, a prominent accused of raping a 24 -year -old college student in Kolkata, had long performed a pencant for psychiatry trends and sexual violence, according to former classmates and juniors.In 2021, Mishra, who was expelled from the Trinmool unit of the college, had repeatedly proposed to women students with a single line – “You am Biye Korbi (will you marry me)?” – He allegedly raped, including the survivor, on Wednesday.A college inner source on Saturday alleged that Mishra often took pictures of girls and broadcast them among friends, filmed and shared the intimate moments with women, and shared them regularly to body-embroidered female students. Complaints of molestation, attack, extortion and harassment were filed against him, but no action was taken.Mishra maintained access to campus buildings, manipulated the college WhatsApp groups, and controlled information flow, many students said.The third year college student said, “This person and his associates were a terror, especially for girls. The authorities knew everything, but protected it. We also filed a formal sexual harassment complaint for teacher-in-charge, but nothing happened,” a third year college student said.A first -year student described Mishra as an uncontrolled power: “The people associated with the union had a license to do anything. It was normal to post pornographic jokes and photos in the groups. We kept quiet with fear.” Another student said how Mishra threatened and attacked the students who participated in the previous year’s ‘Reclem the Night’ movement, which was against the case of RG car rape-killing.Co-accused Promit Mukherjee alias Riju participated in protests with irony last August demanding a death sentence for the accused in the RG car rape case. Another co-compulsory, Junaid, is from Howrah. His house was closed on Saturday. Neighbors shocked. Abbas Sheikh said, “It is upset to hear Junaid’s name in this case.”
