Top American intelligence officials on Wednesday issued a strong refutation to leak media reports, suggesting limited damage from recent US air strikes on Iran’s nuclear sites, claiming that the targeted features were truly seriously hits and would take years to rebuild.Tulsi Gabbard, director of National Intelligence, alleged that he described what he described as “promotional media” by President Donald Trump in a bid to handle the attacks. In a post from its official X account, Gabbard stated that new intelligence confirmed the “complete destruction” of Iran’s nuclear facilities in Natans, Fordo and Isfahan during the US air strike earlier this week.“If the Iranians chose to reconstruction, they would have to completely reconstruct all three features,” she wrote, such a reconstruction process “possibly will take over years.”A former Hawaii Democratic Congressmen, who now work in the cabinet of Gabbard, now also criticized the credibility of news reports, who reduced the damage limit. He claimed that these stories were based on illegally leaked classified assessments, written with “low confidence” and selectively leaked to mislead the public.Echoing his comment, CIA director John Ratcliffe also released a statement on X that the agency had “reliable intelligence”, which also included reliable sources, showing that the Iranian nuclear program maintained serious failures. “Iran’s nuclear features have been severely damaged by targeted attacks recently,” Ratcliffe said, given that the CIA continues to monitor the situation and update to the authorities and the public as more information is available. The two officials challenged the initial leaks reported directly by some US media outlets, suggesting that the strike had abandoned the main components of the Iranian nuclear features and set it back for only a few months. Ratcliffe rejected reports on the basis of illegally obtained intelligence that do not reflect the current assessment of the CIA.Gabbard and Ratcliffe’s statements mark the most vocal public reaction from the intelligence community as strikes were carried out.
