Punjab government to develop 4,000 sports grounds to fight drugs, to promote youth games: CM Mann | Bharat News

Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sunday announced that modern playgrounds will be developed in villages across the state to remove the youth from medicines and make their energy channels in a positive direction.“We have decided to develop these grounds. Work on 3,083 grounds is going to start and a total of 4,000 grounds will be developed in the first phase,” he said during a press conference here.

He said that athletes who won medals in international competitions would also include coaching to promote a sports culture among the youth.There are about 13,000 villages in Punjab, and quality playgrounds will be built in every village.Mann said that when children participate in the game, they stay away from bad habits and their energy is transmitted positively.Swiping the previous governments, he alleged that he pushed the youth towards drugs.“The youth were interested in sports and education. But during the time of previous governments, they were neither given the basis nor books. As they say, a useless mind is a devil’s workshop, many young people got into bad habits. Gradually, Punjab drugs and youth slipped into the swamp and the youth did not get the atmosphere,” he said.Mann said, “As a Punjabi and a sports lover, our aim is to get the youth of the state out of the drug threat. For this, we need to give them an option so that they do not slip back into the habit,” Mann said.He insisted that the best option is the game and said that with proper support and opportunities, the youth of Punjab can excel in many sports.Despite the lack of facilities in the past, players like Shubman Gill and Harbhajan Singh emerged from Punjab, they said that many players in the national hockey team also come from the state.The Chief Minister said that the youth of Punjab can excel in hockey, cricket, kabaddi, athletics – what they want is the right atmosphere and support.
