On Tuesday, army soldiers set fire to the Line of Control (LOC) in Rajouri district after detecting suspicious agitation in an further area, as security forces started wide search operations at more than a dozen places in Ponch, Samba and Kathua districts of Jammu and Kashmir, PTI told the officials.The soldiers saw the movement of three to four persons using a thick forest cover in the Chingas area of ​​Kiri sector, inspiring them to fire more than two dozen rounds and perform a search operation, deploying drones to scan the area. However, despite the efforts, officials said that no mark was found for the suspects.He further stated that based on the information of the suspected agitation, joint teams of Special Operations Group, CRPF, and Rashtriya Rifles started searching from 6 am in more than a dozen areas of Ponch district, including Surankot and Mehar.Operation was held at places like Sari, Pathankhor, Chandimarah and Kallar-Gursai, although no arrests were reported.In Kathua and Samba districts, the police aided by paramilitary forces searched villages close to the international border, including Bean Nullah, Chak Dhulma and Chakra.Meanwhile, along with the Amarnath Yatra starting from July 3, Senior Superintendent of Police, Udhampur, Amod Nagpur presided over a detailed briefing for the officers handed over to the pilgrimage road.A police spokesperson said the session focused on strengthening security at weak points, especially with the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway as well as smooth traffic management and preparing a casual plan for any emergency situations.He said that the officials were directed to give timely support to the pilgrims and to maintain close coordination with the disaster management teams. The SSP also highlighted the importance of community engagement, real -time monitoring, and quick reporting to ensure a safe and smooth pilgrimage.
