Chandigarh: Chancellor Gurvinder Singh deaf of the newly approved Rayat deaf professional university in Hoshiarpur has praised the Punjab government’s decision to establish the institution. He said that self-financial university is an important step towards providing high quality education and promoting the overall development of the region.Bahra claimed that the university would increase students’ skills and employment in Hoshiarpur and surrounding areas. He announced a plan to launch a series of new-age courses in collaboration with top multinational companies to increase students’ jobs.According to deaf, an important focus of the university has its own commitment to “prepare employment” to students, before they graduate, which they believe that they will get a strong advantage in securing placements.The Punjab Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a law on Friday, in which Rayat Bahra Professional University, Hoshiarpur and Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC), Janjeri (Mohali) were given university status. With this law, the number of universities in the state has gone up to 19.
