RCMP claims 488% spike in Canadian terrorism charges

The allegations of terrorism have increased by 488 percent in Canada last year, RCMP wrote to the Public Safety Minister.According to RCMP’s ministerial briefing document, published on a government website, violent extremism creates a serious national security concern.Briefing said, “The Canadian police have thwarted six terrorist plots alone in the last 12 months, with Edmonton to Otawa to Toronto.”In the period between April 1, 2023 and 31 March 2024, 83 terrorism allegations were seen against 25 persons. The allegations were included in the allegations under terrorism peace bonds, three minors, six young adults and eight youth, indicating an increase in the participation of the youth.The document states that digital platform “was contributing to enough youth engagement with violent extremist ideologies and an increase in the number of young subjects of interest.”“This increase in violent extremism has not seen a parallel increase in resource.”The comprehensive 75-page document prepared in December for the upcoming Public Safety Minister David McGubinton was publicly released after Gary Anandarsangari took a portfolio under Prime Minister Mark Carney.Briefing identified several important issues, including violent extremism, foreign intervention, hatred crime, border security and opioid.Being a “serious threat” about the claims about the fantanel smuggling on the Canadian border of US President Donald Trump, the RCMP document stated that there was “very little evidence” supporting the claim, maintaining commitment to international cooperation.The document warns that the current demands are more than the RCMP capabilities, stating that they cannot effectively meet their federal responsibilities without additional resources.CSIS accepted the growing extremism but maintained the level of danger of the current national terrorism. Recent terrorism activities include ISIS-Linked Plot, including supporters rally, Calgary Pride Events and planned attacks on places in Toronto and New York.The situation involves allegations against three Canadian women in the east with ISIS in Syria, and recently ISIS Financer’s sentence in Toronto to channel crowdfunded money for foreign operators of the organization.RCMP increased allegations of terrorism against far-flung groups for activities including hate publicity production.The RCMP informed the minister, “Violent extremism is on growth around the world and forms a major national security threat.”Earlier this month, Global News reported that a Yemeni citizen was arrested on a terrorism peace bond on 19 April as he was allegedly trying to leave Toronto to join the Iranian -backed terrorist group.
