Report: China stops diplomat for questioning after traveling abroad

The Wall Street Journal said on Sunday that a senior Chinese diplomat, a senior Chinese diplomat has been widely seen as a potential future Foreign Minister. Liu was taken from a foreign work trip after returning to Beijing in late July, the WSJ citing people familiar with the matter. China’s State Council Information Office, which handles media questions for the Chinese government, and the International Relations Department of the Chinese Communist Party did not immediately respond to the Reuters’ request for comments.Liu, 61, has led the Communist Party of the Communist Party in charge of management of relations with foreign political parties. Since playing a role in 2022, he traveled to more than 20 countries and met officials from more than 160 countries. Liu’s busy schedule, especially his meetings with former US Secretary of State Antony Blinkan in Washington, hoped that the former ambassador and ministry spokesman was being prepared to become the next Foreign Minister. His detention involves a diplomat in the highest level of investigation, as China excluded its former Foreign Minister and President Xi Jinping’s protage, which gang in 2023 after rumors of an external relationship.Born in Jillin, Liu studied in English at Beijing Foreign Studies University and studied international relations in Oxford before taking his first post as a translator with the Ministry of External Affairs. He has worked as an ambassador to the Britain in the Mission of China and later in Indonesia and the Philippines.
